Teenager found dead in February 2004
THE parents of a teenager whose body was found on the banks of the River Kent in 2004 have been charged with her murder.
Shafilea Ahmed, 17, was last seen in her home town of Warrington, Cheshire, in September 2003. Her body was found in February 2004 on the banks of the River Kent in Cumbria.
The Crown Prosecution said they had been authorised by Cheshire Constabulary to charge Iftikhar Ahmed, 51, and Farzana Ahmed, 48, of Liverpool Road Warrington, with the murder of their daughter.
The couple, who were arrested on suspicion of murder in 2010 and released on police bail, are due to appear at Halton Magistrates Court today.
