Saajidah Mullan jailed for five years

A LEICESTER woman who fled to India after stabbing three women following a row has been jailed for five years.

Saajidah Mullan, of Ellesmere Place, Braunstone, was found guilty at Leicester Crown Court on November 26 after a 10-day trial.

The 20-year-old was told she must serve five years before being considered for release.

Mullan was convicted of stabbing a mother, her daughter and family friend on Belvoir Street in Leicester city centre on 29 August last year.

Mullan fled to India after the stabbing and detectives from Leicestershire Constabulary launched a media campaign for information as to her whereabouts.

She was arrested at Heathrow airport in April 2009 after officers received a tip-off that she was returning to the country.
