Prize draw funds to be given to British Heart Foundation
THE Institute of Asian Businesses in Birmingham has chosen the British Heart Foundation as the beneficiary of their prize draw at their annual dinner and awards at the ICC next month.
The event, which will be held on the 21 November, is expected to attract over 800 people from across the Midlands.
Funds raised from the prize draw will help the heart charity to purchase life saving defibrillators that will be placed in community sites across Birmingham.
An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a portable life saving machine that detects the electrical activity in the heart and can deliver a controlled electric shock when it is needed, in many cases after a cardiac arrest, to restore a regular heart beat.
Dipak Shelat, Operations Manager of the Institute of Asian Businesses said: “We are delighted to be supporting the British Heart Foundation and are pleased that the funds raised will help a vital local cause that will benefit people in Birmingham.”
Donna Stokes, BHF Fundraising Volunteer Manager for Birmingham added: “To help save more lives, it is vital that the number of defibrillators in public access sites including places of worship, supermarkets and shopping centres are increased, together with an increase in the number of people trained in basic life support.”
