Neelam Afzal, Solicitor and Head of the Employment Law Department at Wildings Solicitors was recognised and highly commended in the category for Achievements in Law, at the 8th British Muslim Awards ceremony which took place at the Mercure Piccadilly Hotel in Manchester on Friday 31st January 2020,

Three hundred remarkable British Muslims were shortlisted after hundreds of nominations were received from the UK public. The British Muslim Awards honour the successes and achievements of individuals and organisations.   The awards cover a wide range, from those who have had a positive impact upon business, as well as charities, sports, arts, culture, religious advocacy, education and medicine among others.

Neelam was one of ten individuals nominated in her category and was highly commended for her contribution to the legal sector, in advising both businesses and employees in relation to their Employment Law/HR matters. She has worked with vulnerable clients as well as those in a commercial environment and approaches all with an equally high level of determination to achieve successful outcomes.

Neelam devised the Retain and Assure Scheme at Wildings which offers Employment Law/HR services that really work and are not simply a “one size fits all”.

Neelam is a member of the Birmingham Law Society Employment Committee which seeks to influence government policy by providing detailed responses to consultations on employment legislation.

She is active within the business community and is now in her second year as an Executive Committee Member at Asian Business Chamber of Commerce.

She supports the professional development of others, including Birmingham City University students and supporting businesses by delivering seminars and holding mock tribunals.
