A fundraising campaign has been set up for a Mum-of-two Kalpana Bobee Jain, who died in her sleep on Saturday, just one day before her and her family were due to travel home after four-week holiday.

Close friend to the family Mohan Ramasamy, has spoken of the devastation at the sad news.

A fundraising page has been set up to support Kalpana’s family – her husband Bobee and their children Abi Preethi, three, and Adhya, eight – through their difficult ordeal.

Mr Ramasamy said Kalpana had worked at the Bradford Royal Infirmary since 2011 and her work at the hospital was a great pleasure for her and she had recently got a promotion.

He described her as a friendly, family-focused person who had a “helping heart” and a smile on her face.

“They are a very lovely couple,” Mr Ramasamy said. “They go on many holidays together and spend time with family.

“It’s very, very shocking. There are no words to describe the feeling.

“She was loved by everyone. She had a very loving nature, very supportive, like a family member for everyone.”

He said Kalpana’s husband, a mental health nurse in Leeds, was “devastated and shocked” at the news, while her two children keep asking “where is mummy?”.

Mr Ramasamy said Kalpana had never had any medical issues and her friends were in shock and heartbroken at the news.

It’s not clear when the family will be able to come back from India.

A fundraising campaign set up has already raised nearly £3,000 to support her family.

Tributes have been left on the page.

One person wrote: “Words can’t express how much we miss you Kalpana …we miss you sooo much dear. May your soul RIP.”

While another person said: “RIP Kalpana. Let us try to support the family as much as we can.”
