Pedestrians including children had to quickly jump out the way when a speeding car mounts the pavement and damages parked cars.
Police are looking into how a dangerous driver drove onto Third Avenue, in Bordesley Green forcing children and a cyclist to jump out of the way.
The quick-thinking children immediately leapt into a driveway to escape being run over by the car before ‘bursting into tears’, witnesses said.
The speeding grey vehicle scrapped alongside other parked cars, leaving five damaged.
No one was injured and police are appealing for information.
One local resident said two children, a boy and a girl aged around eight or nine, were in tears after they jumped out the path of the speeding car.
She said: “I was sitting inside and I heard a loud bang.
“I came running out and heard all the commotion. The car was driving along the pavement at speed.
“People were jumping out the way. There were kids there because it was a half day, they jumped out of the way.
“When I came out, they were crying. It’s shocking.”
Taxi driver Nadeem Ansari’s white Pruis Hybrid people carrier was damaged and the wing mirror on his wife’s car was torn off in the rampage.
Mr Ansari, 52, who was at home preparing for prayers when it happened, said: “One man was walking and one person was on a bike. They both went into my driveway.
Car damage is fine, as long as children are safe.”
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: “We were called at 1pm on May 17th. Five cars were damaged. There were no injuries and no one has been arrested.
“Enquiries continue.”
