A Glasgow car mechanic raped two men that he met on Grindr app said it was “just for a bit of fun” he is also known to be a notorious figure in Scotland’s Asian gangster underworld.
Omar Mohammed Khan 28, kept his sexuality a secret, has been jailed for two appalling rapes.
Scottish born mechanic and a 17-year-old Slovakian national, who can’t be named for legal reasons, preyed on their terrified victims after contacting them via the meet-up app for gay men.
Khan was caught up in a gang vendetta involving the family of Imran Shahid, who killed innocent teenager Kriss Donald in March 2004.
Khan and the teenager arranged to meet a 30-year-old man at his home on September 3 last year after chatting with him on Grindr.
There was a consensual sex act between him and the teenager before Khan grabbed the man by the arm and pushed him against a wall while the teenager raped him.
Khan and the Slovakian attacked their second victim in Glasgow a week later.
The student victim told the court he had been threatened with violence before Khan forced him to perform a sex act on him.
Judge Lord Uist also sentenced the Slovakian to eight years’ detention. Both were told they would be supervised by the authorities for two years following their release from custody.
Khan, who worked at family business Khan’s Autos, told a social worker the crimes were “just a bit of fun”.
Another Slovakian, Julius Horvath, 20, from Glasgow, and Khan’s friend Afzaal Hassan, 20, from West Calder, West Lothian, were also found guilty of luring a 40-year-old man to a deserted industrial estate to attack and rob him.
Horvath had driven to a crime scene in a car with “Khan’s Autos” livery on the side.
Khan, 28, was jailed for seven years at the High Court in Edinburgh on Thursday 17 May.
Khan and the Slovakian are placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
