After months of hi-bear-nation, Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity and Wild in Art are pleased to announce Birmingham’s The Big Sleuth will launch on Monday 10 July.

The highly anticipated free, 10-week public art trail, named because ‘sleuth’ is a group of bears, will see Bear-mingham engulfed in colour with up to 100, 165cm tall sculptures taking to the region’s streets, parks and open spaces.

Showcasing the artistic and cultural diversity the city has to offer, the family-friendly trail is intended to inspire residents and tourists alike to get active by walking, jogging, running or cycling The Big Sleuth Trail.

Located across the city, with satellite trails in Solihull, Sutton Coldfield, Sandwell and at Resorts World, the fantastic spectacle will culminate on Sunday 17 September.

Sally-Ann Wilkinson, Director of Wild in Art, said: “We’re delighted to be announcing the dates of this year’s exciting trail. The Big Sleuth brings together business and creative sectors with schools and local communities to celebrate Birmingham’s rich culture and heritage and will leave lasting memories across the region for generations to come.”

Elinor Eustace, Deputy Director of Fundraising at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “The Big Sleuth will encourage residents and families of Birmingham and beyond to see our amazing city in a new light, inspiring us all to become tourists in our own town. We would encourage all to get out and about with friends, families and colleagues to enjoy the free trail and consider getting sponsored to walk, jog, run or cycle it along the way.”

At the end of The Big Sleuth, the giant bears will be sold at auction. The Big Sleuth’s predecessor, The Big Hoot, raised over £500,000 for the charity at auction, and The Big Sleuth aims to do the same. All proceeds will go towards helping the children and young people treated at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
