Jolly LLB 2
Director: Subhash Kapoor
Cast: Akshay Kumar, Annu Kapoor, Huma Qureshi
Set against the backdrop of Lucknow, Jolly LLB 2 is inspired by true events.
It tells the story of Jolly Mishra a hustler, who survives by fighting petty cases by using every tactic under the sun to make a quick buck to earn a decent living.
Having spent years in the chaotic and dingy court corridors, Jolly is looking out for an opportunity that could turn the tide in his favour.
This will help him achieve his dream of becoming a full-fledged lawyer.
When faced with the glimpse of such an opportunity, Jolly jumps at the chance but in the process commits an innocent mistake with irreversible consequences.
He ends up fighting a big case against the ruthless advocate Mathur.
Jolly LLB 2 is a satire about an underdog attempting to catapult himself to the top of the legal food chain.
Anarchy, mayhem and underhandedness, all expressed through wit and humour form the cornerstones of this courtroom tale.
The original film which released in 2013 titled Jolly told the story of a struggling lawyer who took up a hit-and-run case. It featured Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani in lead roles.
But in this sequel it is Akshay Kumar who plays the lead role of a lawyer. Jolly LLB 2 is shot entirely in Lucknow and Manali.
Akshay who is currently riding high on the successes of Airlift, Rustom and Housefull 3 worked hard to get the film’s shooting done in 3 months.
One cannot fail to notice that every Akshay Kumar film has a special number which is very distinctive to this actor. In this case it’s the song sequence titled Jolly Good Fellow sees Akshay doing his comic antics.
The song has Lord Krishna too. It seems Akshay uses Lord Krishna in all his films – he played Krishna in OMG! and in Bhool Bhulaiyaa he danced to Hare Krishna Hare Ram song.
Another song fast catching up in the charts is Bawra Mann a melodious love song seeing Akshay thanking Huma Qureshi his co-star for saving his life in the film.
Court room dramas like Rustom and Amitabh Bachchan’s Pink did well at the box office suggesting there is a gradual change in the audiences taste in the choice of films they like to see. So expect Jolly LLB 2 to be in the same league.
