Queens Honours List 2017

The Queen released the 2017 Honors list in time for the New Year, to recognize key individuals across the UK.
1197 people will be receiving the prestigious award, with a number of them being British Asians from all different sectors such as art, finance, education and business.
The titles given range from Commanders of the Order of the British Empire (CBE), Officers of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) and Medallist of the Order of the British Empire.
Titles are awarded to people who have contributed incredible work in society and for the public.
British Indian Professor Shankar Balasubramanian was the only Asian to receive a Image result for Shankar BalasubramanianKnighthood, being recognized for his work with Next Generation DNA sequencing, which had been noted as being the most transformational advance in biology and medicine for decades.
The rise of Asians being recognized is a step in the right direction as it dispels the myth of Britain being racist and divided.
We’d like to congratulate all of this year’s Honourees and hope to see many more Asians in the list in the forthcoming years.
