Subhankar Pramanick scored gold in the 50 meter rifle prone event at ISSF

India won big at the shooting events of ISSF Junior World Cup for pistol, rifle and shotgun. Indian shooters took home seven medals including three gold.

Subhankar Pramanik was the man of the hour who gave India its first gold in the year’s second and final international Shooting Sport Federation’s Junior World Cup. It was considered a masterful performance on part of Pramanik at international level with a shooting score of 613.8, marking him in sixth place for the eight-man finals in 50-metre rifle prone event.

In the finals Pramanik shot 205.5 over 20 shots beating out Filip Nepejchal of the Czech Republic who only scored 205.2 landing him silver. Dragomir Iordache of Roumania won the bronze medal.

Pramanik was also helped by team mates Fateh Singh Dhillon and Ajaey Nithish who won the India team a silver in the event.

Sambhaji Patil won a second gold at junior men’s 25-metre standard pistol event by shooting 562 beating Australians Sergei Evglevski and James Ashmore. Patil also landed a team gold with companions Gurmeet and Rituraj Singh taking them to the top of the medals table, this added to the silver and two bronze medals.

In 2016’s first Junior World Cup in May in Germany the Indians finished fourth with three gold, four silver and three bronze medals.
