Horrific crash kills woman and three children on the A34

Police have claimed the group were travelling in the same car, the woman was 45-years-old with 13 and 11-year-old boys and an 11-year-old girl. The children have not yet been named.

A man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after four lorries and four cars crashed on Wednesday. The said man has been released on bail.

A man was flown by air ambulance to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and is being treated for serious injuries. 11 people have reportedly been treated for minor injuries.

Chief Inspector Henry Parsons, head of the Joint Operations Unit for Roads Policing, said, “Our thoughts are with anyone affected by this tragedy.

“Can I ask anyone who witnessed the collision, including anyone travelling on the southbound carriageway who saw anything they believe is significant, to contact police.”

The crash occurred between Chieveley and East Ilsley causing a six-mile tailback on the Northbound carriageway.

The Northbound reopened after over 12 hours whilst the Southbound carriageway was closed for about five hours.
